Why?
The introduction of our meditation feature represents a significant step towards promoting employee well-being and fostering a culture of mindfulness within the workplace. In today's fast-paced and often chaotic world, finding moments of tranquility can be challenging, especially within the confines of a busy office environment.
With our meditation feature, employees have the flexibility to engage in mindfulness practices wherever they are, whether they're at their desks, in a meeting room, or on the go.
Design Approach
In approaching the design of our meditation feature, several practical considerations influenced our decision-making process.
-
Given the constraints of limited time and resources, we opted for an iterative approach, recognizing that the initial design represents just the first version (V1) of this feature.
-
Additionally, the need to balance speed with effectiveness led us to adopt a minimalistic yet impactful design philosophy. By focusing on essential functionalities and avoiding unnecessary complexity, we aimed to deliver a user experience that is both intuitive and efficient.
-
Moreover, embracing a minimal approach allowed us to gather valuable insights into user reactions and usage patterns, which would help us iterate and refine the feature based on real-world feedback.
The meditation feature has a simple and easy-to-use interface. Here are some key highlights:
-
A timer that allows users to track the duration of their meditation sessions.
-
Sound effect, such as a soothing bell sound, to design the starting and ending experience of a session.
-
A log to track the user’s meditation history, including the number of sessions completed and the total duration of meditation.
-
Multiple ambient sounds, so that the user can choose from a variety of ambient sounds that play during the session.
-
Progress tracking: In addition to tracking the total duration of meditation, the app could also track other metrics, such as the average length of meditation sessions.
-
Social features, to allow users to share their sessions with their colleagues.
